Updating the Organization Level token

Organization Level tokens have an expiry date and need to be updated periodically.

This article is intended for IT professionals.

Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Identity, Azure Active Directory and AAD are all words for the same thing. Below we refer to it as Entra.

You can check the expiry date of your Organization Level token in the Security Set Up section of the Settings page: https://app.tonicdm.com/organization-settings

If the expiry date is within the next 30 days, you should use App Registrations in your Microsoft Entra to generate a new secret then use the Update Now button in TonicDM to enter the new secret from Entra.


Click Update Now in TonicDM, and then:


Go to Microsoft Entra — App RegistrationsAll Applications and search for tonic.

The required entry will refer to Office 365 or Microsoft 365
e.g. TonicDM Office 365 Token

Open that entry and select Certificates & Secrets then + New client secret.

Type a description e.g. TonicDM Client Secret May 2026 and choose duration (2 years is the max allowed).

Copy the Value <---- NOTE: ensure you get the Value not the ID !!!


Switch back to TonicDM and paste the value and set the expiry date, then click Go.



The update is now complete, and your organization's TonicDM to M365 connection is good until the new expiry date.
