Start a text search
Open a project in TonicDM.
Select Email.
Select the has text... filter.
Enter a word or phrase.
TonicDM will display matching emails and highlight the search term within the results.
You can also select Search All Projects if you want to search beyond the current project.
Search for multiple terms using AND
Use AND when an email must contain all the search terms.
For example:
soil AND RFI
This returns emails containing both “soil” and “RFI.”
To add another required term, enter your first search term and then add the next term in the and text... field.
Broaden your search using OR
Use OR when an email can contain either search term or set of terms.
For example:
soil OR RFI
This returns emails containing “soil,” “RFI,” or both.
To add an OR condition:
Select the menu beside your current search condition.
Select + OR.
Enter the alternative search term.
The OR condition appears on a separate line beneath the original search.
You can also create groups of terms, such as:
soil AND RFI
OR
soil AND Stuart
This returns emails that match either complete set of conditions.
Exclude a term using NOT
Use NOT when you want to remove emails containing a particular word or phrase from the results.
To add a NOT condition:
Select the menu beside your current search condition.
Select + NOT.
Enter the term you want to exclude.
For example:
soil NOT stuart
This returns emails containing “soil” but excludes emails containing “stuart.”
Combine text searches with other filters
You can use AND, OR, and NOT alongside the other email filters, including:
Date Range
From Person
From Organization
To/CC
Has Attachments
Internal Only
Trash
Combining these filters can help you narrow the results even further.
Clear the search
Select the X beside an individual search term to remove it.
To remove all active conditions and return to the complete email log, select clear filters.
