You can add multiple notes to an item, see who added each note and when, and control whether individual notes are included when the log is exported.
Display notes in your CA log
Notes can now be displayed in two ways:
Notes provides a compact view using an icon for each note attached to the item.
Notes Expanded displays the note text directly in the log.
To add notes to your log view:
Open the project in TonicDM.
Select CA.
Open the relevant log, such as Submittals or RFIs.
Select Columns.
Select Notes or Notes Expanded.
Close the Manage Columns panel.
You can save your selection as part of your column arrangement.
View notes and edit notes from the log
When using the Notes column:
Hover over the note icons beside an item.
A preview will display the notes and the person who added each one.
Select Add and Edit Notes to open the complete notes window.
When using Notes Expanded, the note text and author icons appear directly in the log.
Add a note
Open the notes for the CA item.
Select Add Note.
Enter the note. Rich text formatting is supported.
Select Exports with Log if the note should be included when the log is exported.
Select Add note.
The note will display:
The revision it relates to
The person who added it
The date and time it was added
Whether it will be included in an exported log
You can add multiple notes to the same CA item, creating a running record of internal project context.
Edit a note
Open the complete notes window.
Find the note you want to change.
Select the pencil icon.
Update the note and save your changes.
Delete a note
Open the complete notes window.
Find the note you want to remove.
Select the trash icon.
Confirm the deletion if prompted.
Control which notes are exported
The Exports with Log setting determines whether a note will be included when the CA log is exported.
Select Exports with Log when the note should appear in the exported log.
Clear the option when the note should remain available only within TonicDM.
This allows your team to maintain useful internal context while controlling what is included in logs shared outside the firm.
Tip: Use notes to preserve the thinking and internal context surrounding an item. Before exporting a log, review which notes are marked Exports with Log to make sure only the appropriate information is included.
